Back to the Bright Lights Of Vegas

We returned to our previous RV park in Vegas called SAMs as we liked it last time and the rates were good. As mentioned before summer is coming to the USA and all the dormant campers are awakening and parks fill up quickly so for the first time since being here we have to start booking ahead. That coupled with Memorial Day and Independence Day means we needed to think ahead in some of our intended destinations. So our first day in Vegas we spent planning our next 3-4 weeks including booking parks.

Like a lot of the casinos SAMs Town have a loyalty club which is free to join and which offers great discounts at the casino. They have a smorgasbord each night which is great value, Subway, MacDonald's as well many other eating places. We made better use of the restaurants this time round.

One evening as I sat out in the man cave in the afternoon sun a bloke with tattoos walked up and said " I saw the Bundy Rum sign in your man cave so you must be an Aussie " A quick introduction, beers out of the fridge and a new friendship is formed. Shaun and Sheree ( and their dog Presley) have been in the USA for five years. Shaun builds custom motor bikes and is currently filming a show which is scheduled to be released on cable television later this year. We spent several afternoons with them and were fortunate enough to get a tour of the prime mover that they work from. It's equipped with everything including all the filming gear. The trailer has two levels and a rear lift gate. It's great to see a young Aussie couple making good here in the USA and I suggest you check out his web sight at Chopdeville.com

This rig was impressive

Inside the trailer is a full workshop, lathes, drill press etc

Some mean looking bikes ready for transport

I was impressed!

In one of our many conversations I mentioned to Shaun that I was hankering for a Bundy Red - this was my lucky day - he had some spare as every time a friend comes to visit him they bring him some Bundy. The next day he bought me up a bottle - I was in heaven - Shaun I am eternally indebted to you!

My first Bundy Rum in six months, cheers

SAMs town run a free shuttle bus into the strip so this time we used it and headed into Freemont Street and the "strip". We can honestly say that we doubled our money - put $5 into a bar-side blackjack machine and won $10 - last of the big punters!

All to quickly our time in Vegas has come to an end. We spent our last night with Shaun and Sheree under the bright lights of Las Vegas with pizza, beer and wine at our trailer. I have learnt a lot from Shaun and I hope his TV series does well. it will be broadcast in Australia soon so keep an eye out for it.

We said our farewells and as always when we make good friends its hard to leave, but the road awaits and I am sure there is someone new out there for me to chat to.
