Yep, we have a day clock!
His comment was you will see plenty of white sandy beaches but not to many fresh water springs, fair cop, so we ask where it is and how far?
So we set off for Morrison Springs about an hours drive away, we leave and the rain starts coming down, in fact it buckets down but we push on. Finally the rain goes and the sun pokes its head out, thank goodness, we did not have our jackets.
We arrived to see several "divers" preparing for dives. There are many fresh water springs in Florida and its a big attraction for divers. Morrison Springs reportedly has caves ranging from 100 ft to 300 ft deep. We were not sure what to expect but we were not disappointed! The water was crystal clear, it was just amazing. We watched for several minutes and saw bubbles rising to the surface not sure if it was the springs or the divers? Finally we saw movement and realised it was the divers far below.
We watched and were truly amazed that the water was so clear, so clear we could not gauge the depth further out. As the divers came to the surface they would pull the respirator out and we could hear the excitement in their voices saying how clear and fantastic the dive was. It was truly an oasis in the middle of the swamp.
Next stop was to be Panama City which was in a south easterly direction from where we were, we jumped into the car and off we went. Driving the country roads was a great experience, the Interstate roads are wide and efficient but to do the country roads gets you into the "other" places. Feeling hungry we stopped at a local place for some lunch, just what is termed a "ma and pa" type place. The southern deep fried chicken had just been cooked so we opted for it, one to share with two sides, we chose green beans and baked beans for $6.99 glad we chose to share there was plenty.
So back on the road to Panama City we followed the road along the Gulf and there were some amazing houses to see complete with grandpa's whiskers by the tonne hanging from the trees. We did a drive by tour of the city did not find anything big to make us stop so we headed back on interstate 10 back to Destin.
It was a great day and we saw plenty. The next day our new found Canadian friends, Jon and Eileen were heading of, a sad day for us but that's RVing, people come and go and your friends accumulate, we swapped Facebook pages, emails etc.
The next day was a slow start and a late walk on the beach with the monotony of the walk broken by a stop at the beach bar, what a relief, we ordered two "grasshopper" cocktails and sat and watched the sunset across the gulf.
Tomorrow we set off to Pensacola to get the tap leak fixed in our shower, we will drive till we are close, then park in a Walmart car park for the night, that way we can be there for their 8 am opening.

I just LOVE your blogs, Rose & Ron. I have enjoyed reading every one of them. Just wish we could be traveling together and discover the United States with each other.
